A POPULAR EXCURSION POINT
SIRNITZER WATERMILL
A popular excursion point is the last water mill in Sirnitz on the Widitschbach, which has been lovingly restored and rebuilt by the mill association. For those who are interested, there are special milling days including guided tours.
Especially popular for groups: Foam grinding and Friggaessen in the Mirtl-Stad'l on Wednesdays (registration at the Hochrindl Ski School on +43 4279 211 67).
The 7 km long hiking trail to this beautiful, old and functional mill starts in the village of Sirnitz, leads through the villages of Hofern and Holzern and on through the romantically situated millrace, along the Widitschbach stream. Then you reach the last of the fifty or so mills that once existed in Sirnitz. Demonstrations of how the grain is ground into bread flour are available by appointment.
